Why should you disinfect your well and water distribution system?

Natural, autochthonous microflora may occur in groundwater, but also foreign (allochthonous) microflora, secondary to contaminating the water. In addition to bacteria, viruses and fungi, they can also be very dangerous parasites and protozoa.

After entering the water supply, dangerous pathogenic microorganisms inhabit individual elements of the water infrastructure depending on their metabolic needs. Most microorganisms find shelter and favorable conditions for living in the biofilm, which covers the inner walls of pipes and tanks, but also develops inside the well.

One of the most dangerous pathogens found in groundwater is the Legionella bacterium, which grows in hot water installations. Legionella is responsible for various clinical forms of diseases, ranging from flu-like symptoms to acute pneumonia.

What is Legionella pneumophobilia and why should it be fought?

Legionella Pneumophila – is a dangerous bacterium that inhabits water, air conditioning, swimming pool and cooling systems.

It multiplies most strongly in warm water and spreads through aerosol – showers, air humidification systems, jacuzzis, cooling systems, etc. It causes Legionellosis – a lung infection that is dangerous to humans, often resistant to treatment with penicillin and its derivatives. Because it lives in biofilms, it is difficult to remove using traditional water disinfectants.

Why Active Water?

Active Water is a preparation used to remove pathogenic bacteria from water installations, including drinking water and hot water, as well as water intakes and buffer tanks. Our product is extremely easy to use. Active Water is a safe solution containing pure HOCl, which is one of the strongest biocidal substances found in nature. It does not irritate the skin and mucous membranes and can be used wherever water or its aerosol comes into direct contact with humans. The effectiveness of Active Water in removing disease-causing pathogens is due to its ability to penetrate strongly, disperse sediments and remove biofilm from water installations. That’s why it is so effective against Legionella.

Biofilm is an organic structure produced by certain microorganisms, composed of so-called saccharide polymers in which microorganisms, including bacteria and parasites, live. Biofilm combined with deposits of precipitated sediments and organic or clay contaminants often constitutes a very large mass covering the inner side of well casing pipes, suction basket, water distribution pipes, etc. Active Water removes biofilm from the installation and penetrates the sediments due to its special feature – small particle size and no negative charge. This unusual feature allows it to easily penetrate subsequent layers of sediments, but also penetrate the cell membranes of pathogens.

The active substance in the Actiw Water product is pure chlorous acid – HOCL – a compound naturally occurring in vertebrate organisms, destroying disease-causing pathogens. HOCl is the strongest natural biocidal substance that can be safely used in the disinfection process.

How to use:

Surface disinfection:

Disinfection of drinking water: 100-150 ml/m3 (0.1-0.15 ml/1 liter)
Shock disinfection of drinking water (performed periodically): 300-400 ml/1m3 (0.3-0.4 ml/1 liter)
Shock disinfection of the installation – removal of E.coli and Legionella bacteria: 50 ml/1 liter of water. Keep the solution in the installation for 5 hours. Then flush the installations. In case of larger infections or heavy contamination of the installation, repeat the treatment several times.

How to effectively disinfect wells and water installations at home?

Pour 20 liters of the preparation into the casing pipe through the inspection hole.
Open all taps gently, including hot water, and wait a few minutes until a faint smell of chlorine appears in the water.
Close the taps for a few hours.
Open all taps and the shower and rinse the installation thoroughly with water
If a lot of dirty water flows while rinsing the installation, it means that disinfection should be carried out again due to the large amount of dirt in the installation.
How to effectively disinfect a Jacuzzi bathing system?

Just pour 5L of Actiw Water into a bathtub filled with water and start the cleaning mode or turn on the flow through all the jets.

To properly control the effectiveness of the disinfection process, measuring ORP redox in the disinfected water is very useful. Microorganisms are very sensitive to high levels of oxidation and are completely destroyed at an ORP of 750 – 850 mV. Activ Water ensures a high level of ORP oxidation. The measurement is best performed with ORP redox testers available on the market.
